Silver Alert Success Story: Went missing in West Virginia found in Maryland
On June 19, 2011, a Silver Alert was issued for 79-year-old William Lester Campbell. Campbell went missing in Morgantown, West Virginia and was found safe 54 miles (87 km) away in Oakland, Maryland.

SHINNSTON, W.Va. — State Police canceled a silver alert Sunday afternoon that they issued late Saturday night for a missing Indiana man.
According to a press release, William Lester Campbell, 79, of Indianapolis was found unharmed in Oakland, Md.
The man’s family was en route to pick him up, the release said.
The alert explained Campbell had driven away from family he was visiting in Morgantown to buy gasoline and never returned.
