North Carolina: Silver Alerts prove effective, officials say

by silveralertbill

“Silver Alerts work most of the time.”

That is the conclusion of the Winston-Salem Journal, which examined retrieval rates for the North Carolina Silver Alert program:

This year through April, the latest month for which statistics are available, the N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued 68 silver alerts, two of them in Forsyth County during that period.

Of those alerts, all but one have been marked as “recovered.”

The most active month was January, when 24 silver alerts were issued. The most silver alerts — 10 — were for Wake County residents.

Last year, there were 216 silver alerts statewide, including six in Forsyth County. All people, except for one in Wake County, were recovered, according to data from the N.C. Center for Missing Persons website.
