by silveralertbill

On September 21, 2011, a Silver Alert  was issued for 88-year-old Carrie Lee Houser. Houser went missing in Long View, North Carolina, and was later found safe 340 miles away in Caroline County, Virginia.

From the news story in the Hickory Daily Record:

LONG VIEW — The search for a Long View woman ended 19 hours after it began when Carrie Lee Houser Foster, 88, was found at a rest stop in Caroline County, VA. off of Interstate 95.

“She has a daughter near that area and may have tried to go see her and gotten lost. We really don’t know,” said Investigator Ray Denton with the Long View Police Department.

Paramedics were called to the rest stop when Foster was found. They reported that she had bruising that may have come from a fall. A trooper at the scene said she was slightly disoriented, but healthy, Denton said.
