Silver Alert Success Story: 74-year old Texas woman found in Mexico

This website has discussed a number of Silver Alerts across state lines, but the news from El Paso brings the story of a Silver Alert that transcended national borders.

On January 21, 2012, a Silver Alert  was issued for 74-year-old Ofelia Goss. Goss went missing in El Paso, Texas and was later found safe in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.

From the news story on KVIA-TV:

The 74-year-old woman missing from far-East El Paso since Saturday morning, has been found alive in Juarez.

According to El Paso Police officials, 74-year old Ofelia Goss was found by Mexican law enforcement agents in Juarez Sunday. Mexican law enforcement officials say Goss was found walking in Juarez and placed in a shelter.

The El Paso Police Department and the Crimes Against Persons had issued a Silver Alert Saturday morning after Goss’ family notified them she had gone missing. According to family members Goss, who left home with her white poodle, suffers from Alzheimer’s and dementia.
