Michigan Silver Alert bill gets support from Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Michigan

by silveralertbill

A recent letter in the Midland Daily News from the Greater Michigan Alzheimer’s Association endorsed pending legislation to create a Silver Alert program in Michigan.

Michigan’s Silver Alert Bill 466 needs your support.

Statistically, 6 out of 10 people with Alzheimer’s disease will wander and become lost at some time during their disease. Up to half of those will suffer serious injury if not found within 24 hours.

The State of Michigan needs of its residents to help push Senate Bill 466 through the Committee of Families, Children and Seniors. This bill proposes that Michigan create a “Silver Alert” for seniors that may wander off and get lost due to the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. Senate Bill 466 will help law enforcement and the general population become more effective in the search with TV and radio ads and billboard notifications on the roadways.

Please help us in the effort to keep our seniors safe.
