Minnesota: Legislature Approves Silver Alert Study

by silveralertbill

The Minnesota Senate substantially revised propose Silver Alert legislation. Rather than implement such a system for missing seniors directly, the Senate amended pending legislation to study the issue.

The bill began as SF 857, a bill which would have created and implemented a full Silver Alert program.

According to Senator Kathy Sheran (D-Mankato): “This legislation seeks to protect seniors living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, who are some of our most vulnerable citizens. By establishing a working group of experts to assess whether or not a system is needed in Minnesota, we’re making strides in ensuring the safety of our seniors.”

The bill remains pending in the Minnesota legislature, according to The West Central Tribune.
