On August 7, 2013, a Silver Alert was issued for 84-year-old Eldridge Gene Stirling. Stirling went missing in Harrisburg, Arkansas and was later found safe 150 miles away in Corinth, Mississippi.

Authorities have canceled a Sliver Alert for 84-year-old Eldridge Gene Stirling after he was located at a convenience store, according to Harrisburg Police Chief Gary Hefner.
The Harrisburg resident was found safe at a convenience store in Corinth, Mississippi.
Corinth is about two and half hours away from Harrisburg.
According to Arkansas State Police, Stirling went missing from Harrisburg around 10:30 a.m.
A Silver Alert was then issued by Arkansas State Police on Wednesday night.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol noted the success of the Magnolia State’s Silver Alert program, with 3 successful recoveries in the past month.

Corporal Criss Turnipseed is an acting Public Affairs Officer for the Mississippi Highway Patrol. He says, ” Usually that person will have to be missing for 48 hours to be declared officially missing. With the Silver Alert Program, that wait time is waived, because of the possible imminent danger, that adult might be in, because of their mental state.” Say a person reports that his ailing father left home late one morning. By early that afternoon, every law enforcement agency in the state will be on the lookout for him. Media outlets are also alerted. Corporal Turnipseed goes over the keys to an effective Silver Alert, ” Where they were last seen, a physical description, a photo if available, a possible vehicle they might be driving in, any possible locations they might be heading.”
On October 21, 2010, a Silver Alert was issued for 66-year-old Inez Jones. Jones went missing at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina, and was found safe 686 miles away in Meridian, Mississippi.

MORRISVILLE, N.C. — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons canceled a Silver Alert Thursday for a woman who went missing from Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
Inez Jones, 66, was found safe in Meridian, Miss., airport spokesman Andrew Sawyer said.
Airport police requested the Silver Alert Wednesday evening, saying they thought the might be headed to South Carolina.
