Silver Alert Success Story: 45-Year-Old North Carolina Woman Found in Washington, DC

On June 30, 2019, a Silver Alert was issued for 45-year-old Patricia Ann Macchia. Macchia went missing in Burlington, North Carolina and was found safe 300 miles away in Washington, DC.

According to the news story in the Greensboro News & Record:

BURLINGTON — A Silver Alert issued for a woman missing since June has been canceled.

Patricia Ann Macchia, 45, was found unharmed, the Burlington Police Department said.

On Saturday afternoon, the Burlington Police Department received a missing person report on 45-year-old Patricia Ann Macchia, according to a news release from police.

Macchia is white, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 175 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. Macchia was last seen by a friend on June 30 . She was wearing a gray shirt, black shorts and gray tennis shoes. There is no indication that foul play is involved, police said in the release.

A Silver Alert has been issued by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. Macchia is believed to suffer from a form of cognitive impairment.


Silver Alert Success Story: North Carolina Woman Found in Washington, DC

Shelia Roach, 53-year-old from River Bend, North Carolina was reported missing from an assisted living center on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 and was found safe Thursday, January 22, 2015 in Washington, D.C. Roach had wandered more than 325 miles before being found.

As reported by WCTI 12:

53-year old Sheila Roach was reported missing from an assisted living center in River Bend on Wednesday.

She was found safe and in good health at a bus stop in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.

Police don’t know how she got there.

Authorities are working on getting her back to her family safely tonight.


Silver Alert Success Story: 79-year old North Carolina man found in Washington, D.C

On August 17, 2011, a Silver Alert  was issued for 79-year-old John Randolph Trammell. Trammell
went missing in Hillsborough, North Carolina, and was later found alive 270 miles away in Washington, D.C.

From the news story on WRAL-TV:

An Orange County man was found in Washington, D.C., a day after he was the subject of a Silver Alert.

The daughter of John Randolph Trammell, 79, said her father was in a minor car accident in the district, and she hoped to bring him home to Hillsborough Friday.

A Silver Alert was issued Wednesday for Trammell, who has diabetes and is in the early stages of dementia.
